victoria peak, hk

it was a thursday night date surprise,
what matt had in mind i could not surmise.
a walk through the park and along some city streets,
brought us to a tram where we found available seats.
after a short ride at a steep vertical incline,
we arrived at the peak, with a view so fine.
after appreciating breathtaking views we sat down to eat,
with food in our tummies, our date night was complete!

tickets for the tram

the peak tram has been running since 1888.

view of victoria harbor
*note to self or future visitor -
think twice before wearing short sleeves at the peak.  it's pretty chilly!

lamma island, hk

we wanted to break away for our friday night date,
and find something scrumptious upon our dinner plate.
we headed to the pier and found an available ferry,
that travels to lamma island - a place that makes people merry.
along the way we saw the city lit up in lights,
and we knew this was going to be a fabulous night.
as we walked onto land we passed the bicycle lot,
for on this island people walk or bike - cars are a not.
after a delightful seafood and cream soda meal,
we went exploring around town and found properties ideal.
our evening away left us wishing for more island time,
for our getaway sure was an evening sublime.

immigration tower, hk

dear u.s. passport office,

in hong kong they have a self-service machine,
to renew your passport without a line or a scene.
simply walk into the booth and follow instructions,
(to use this you don't need a tutorial or any induction).
what do you think about instituting this same program back home,
to make the passport obtaining process easier for those who want to roam?
the machines can be built to emulate an immigration officer's look,
it just seems a much easier way to obtain a little blue book.

sincerely,
mlw

mongkok, hk

mongkok is the place to gather on a friday night,
to shop, eat and repeat to your heart's delight.
artisans, entertainers and craftsman display their wares,
and visitors leave behind the previous week's cares.
